Day 7

Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas was a city of glitz and glamour, lights and more lights. We stayed in the Circus Circus Hotel & Casino (mostly because the frugal side of me couldn't pass up a nice hotel room for only $49 a night :-) We spent a whole day walking the strip and seeing the sights of each of the Casinos. We rode the coaster at New York, NY, we were active participants in the Race Against Atlantis 3-D Imax Ride at Ceasar's Palace and we attended a Variety Show at Bally's. Heck we even snuck in a trip to FAO Schwartz so that I could see all the cool toys. :-) I couldn't resist taking pictures of all the Warner Bros characters in their fitting costumes as they guarded the WB store in the Forum Shops at Ceasar's Palace. :-) By far though, the highlight of this portion of the trip was the Magic Act in the Variety show. The magician actually made a Lamboughini float in the air right in front of us after driving it to the center of the stage (we were about 10 ft from the stage) and passed a rectangular tube along the length of it to show that it wasn't attached on any side by wires, and then he pulled the cover off the car while it was in the air and the car was gone.... I want to return to Vegas just to see some more magic of this calibier :-)

After taking the bus ride down to the end of the strip we began our tour at the New York, New York Hotel and Casino. The roller coaster that weaves in and out of the New York skyline was very cool. Displaying their very best were the M&M characters. Very eye catching (I have always liked their commercials. ;-)
My Dad stops for a pose from the New York, New York looking over toward the enourmous lion guarding the MGM Grand. Guarding the entry into the Race into Atlantis 3-D Imax ride is Zeus. I am not certain who the mythical beast he is fending off but I am glad he is on our side. :-)
This stunning fountain in front of the Paris Hotel and Casino is that much better by yours truly. :-) My Dad pauses for another shot, this time in front of Bally's were we later returned to see the Variety show "Jubilee!".
Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck make their presence known in their periodic costumes (This is inside Ceasar's Palace after all. :-) Is that Emporer Elmur Fudd? Boy that is a suprise. :-)
Flowers from the gardens of Ceasar's Palace, show some of the variety of colors and species that were all around us. The Treasure Island Hotel and Casino looms far above the lagoon that hosts one of the most spectacular fire, stunt and light shows in town.
Here I stand next to my buddy R2-D2 inside FAO Schwartz. Very cool. A picture of me in front of our hotel!
