Too Much Fun with OS X When we last published, we were still looking forward to the release of Mac OS X. We were so floored by the new Operating System, that we decided a research weekend was in order. Well, the weekend turned into a week, and then a few beers later, the research week became a month... well you know the rest of the story. But we're back now, and we have goodies for you!
What are You Surfing On? Sure our logs tell us that most of you are using Internet Explorer... but what does that mean anyway? Is that your supreme choice or are you just out of options? If you said out of options, then you don't know what you've been missing. The Mac market has been flooded with web browsers over the last year or two and along with the development of the traditional browsers (read: IE and Netscape), you need never use the same browser any two workdays of the week! This month's feature pits IE vs. Netscape vs. OmniWeb vs. iCab vs. Opera in a battle royale straight from the MOSJ Labs. We like to call it Battle of the Browsers 2001 What are the strengths of each browser? Can you even run them? We've taken the licks to our hardware and REM cycles to get you the answers.
Break Out the Software! Of course, what issue would be complete without high quality reviews? Don't answer that. Instead, check out what we have in store for you... from Macromedia, reviews for Fireworks 4 and Dreamweaver 4 & Ultradev 4. From our friends at MacSoft, a few more ports for your perusal: Driver -- a game where the concept isn't lost on the title -- and Links LS 2000 -- the latest in a long line of Golf simulations. Did I say software in the title of this section? I guess I lied... we also have hardware for you. For those of you with interests in sharing accessories and resources between multiple computers, we have given a good look over the MiniView USB. So check it out and see if it's the solution you're looking for. Well, that should hold you until the next issue... right? Didn't think so...
Oh Yeah, Columns Too... Well, since you've asked for more, you've got it. Columns, columns, and more columns. This month's Gaming Landscape discusses video games that have made the jump to the movies, where they've succeeded, where they've failed, and why. In the CoXFiles, Craig feels that a rant is in order regarding the disparity between the specs on some fairly recent Macs and what it takes for them to perform decently. Learning more about Style Sheets is your objective in this month's SimplyWeb as is Save File Hacking in Warehouse. The Surf Report has your OS X and Current Event links ready, and the AppleScript Foundry has more on multiple users. OK, are you satisfied now?
Well if all of this isn't enough, just think. We have many Happy Stevenotes to come...
