"Get Off Your Duff!" Well, that's what my writers said to me... seems they don't think I've been writing enough lately. So after much prodding and cajoling, I gave in. So, I dug down deep to find my muse. It just so happened that in January, I experienced my own little Mac Hell, so I figured I'd share it with all of you and then some. It's got a fallen hero (me), and a good lesson. It's Mac OS 9.1 Emergency! I hope you enjoy my tale and pass on what you've learned.
Napster Bites the Dust? I knew this would happen! Rocco and Kevin must have been bitten with the same bug this month, because both decided to cover topics involving Napster, the application for trading MP3s online. In Warehouse, Rocco discusses MP3 players, encoders, and Napster itself, while Kevin shows ways to use AppleScript to tame those MP3 filenames in this month's AppleScript Foundry. So what happens when two writers talk about Napster around here? Why, Napster starts knocking on death's door. As I type this, Napster is fighting for it's life in court, trying to prevent it's demise at the hands of the RIAA. Enjoy it while it lasts...
Are We Game Crazy? It sure seems like that... with all of the games we've got for you this month. We threw three MacSoft packages at our Game Guru, Erica, this month. And what did we get in return? Why three brand spankin' new reviews: Risk II, Wheel of Fortune, and Mac Fun Pack 2. If you thought Erica was busy with these reviews, just wait until you read the Gaming Landscape and her top 5 underrated games list. Back on the review front, we're not all games this month. Craig follows up last issue's Photoshop 6 review with a collection of graphics filters: Eye Candy 4000.
What Else Ya Got? Well, as usual our mailbag overflows. Check out Connect! for readers thoughts on the January issue, and good ol' Mac advice. A view from afar on last month's Macworld reside in the CoXFiles. What's the hardest part about being a Mac user? Working with Windows users! José helps us out in Mac Mastery. Corby teaches us about Lasso Security in the Database Guru. On the web front, Top Level Domains are the subject of Simply Web while the Surf Report goes over more great Mac resources and international news.
Well, if this isn't enough for you, we got more coming next issue! See ya then.
