July Comes But Once a Year Welcome to the premiere issue of Mac OS Journal! And what a time to release a first issue, huh? Just on the heels of one of the most exciting Macworld Expos ever. I know that all of the staff here had to make addendums to our already growing "Stuff I want" lists. And now the only down side is that Uncle Steve has to try to top this in January. But July was a fun month for other reasons too. First off, I got to help build this new magazine with many former staff members of MacOS monthly/Apple Wizards. I'd like to thank all of the staff here at Mac OS Journal for their hard work and dedication in this new endeavor. Please email us and let us know what you think so far. Of the columnists that have come over from monthly (Kevin Bradley, Craig Cox, Dennis Field, Brent Hecht, Rudy Muiznieks, Randy Overbeck, Denna Sadler, and Corby Stephens), most of them will be writing the same columns they have in the past. Check out this month's Table of Contents to see if your favorite writer has moved. We are also working to get all of their previous works listed in each staff member's personal page. And if you like what you see, don't forget to subscribe to Mac OS Journal. By doing that, you will receive free regular updates by email when new issues are released, and when major updates are made to the site! Remember, while many of us are from MacOS monthly/Apple Wizards, we are a new publication. Your subscription with MOSm has expired, and you need to subscribe with us.
Now, I'd Also Like to Welcome the Newcomers... Erica J. Marceau - Erica was a co-founder of Apple Wizards and is a Senior Contributing Editor at MacGamer's Ledge. She brings her talent to Mac OS Journal with The Gaming Landscape, a monthly column dealing with the Apple gaming industry. Also this month, Erica delivers the first installment of the Ferazel's Wand Secrets Guide. Learn everything you need to play each level perfectly in this hit by Ambrosia Software. Shawn DeLosh - Shawn is a CIS student at the University of Florida and will be utilizing his superb intellect (how else would one get into UF?) as a resident reviewer here at Mac OS Journal. Look for his review of Beatnik software's Mixman Studio Mac in this issue. Hey! Your name can be up here soon too! We currently have openings for the following positions: Acrobat Guru - to create the standalone version
of each month's issue. Just send me an email if you are interested.
So, Welcome to Mac OS Journal! We understand that the average Mac user has high expectations. After all, that's why you're a Mac user, right? And we've worked hard to make sure that our premiere issue lives up to those expectations. Of course, we welcome all feedback. Just jump on over to our contact page, and let us know. Enjoy the issue and I'll see you next month!
